Advice to become a health coach, from a health coach

If you want health coaching to do your job, clarify what your specific goals are. Who are your target audience? Do you help them? Where do they hang out on social media so they can see your marketing materials? What kind of secure record-keeping system would you use for your clients?

I strongly recommend creating financial tracking, social media and blog calendars and analyzing regular metrics that help you evaluate what content and marketing content is most engaging so you know where to spend your energy.

Probably the biggest part of the advice if someone told me: don’t be afraid to ask for help. We can’t be experts in everything, so hire the experts you need. If you have zero experience designing websites and are going to spend thousands of dollars for your work time trying to DIY, then it would be absolutely worthwhile to hire a designer.

On another note, the coaching world may be so competitive, but there is much joy and positive energy in collaborating and building a diverse network of professionals. There are many ways we can learn from and support each other, and there is room for everyone. We have something unique to offer everyone. If you only follow people who look like you and do the same things, or if you fall into a competitive lack of mentality, you will miss out on many incredible experiences, “aha” moments and opportunities.
